Once a year I get to illustrate a poster for my daughter’s ballet studio (Alexander Academy of Performing Arts) here on Maui! The studio puts on a fairly large dance production each year in which students of all ages (the youngest are probably 3) get to show off their dance skills and development. Every year I am in awe of what these young dancers are capable off and how much the studio supports them in their development as dancers.

Alexander Academy is one of the very few places on Maui where lower income families are able to send their kids to without going broke as the studio is operated on donations – tuition is based on what families are able to pay and as of yet it’s the parents who decide how much they can afford to pay each month. For a lot of parents it would be impossible to pay the extra $100 – $400 that a regular dance or gymnastics studio would charge.

Alexander Academy really is doing an outstanding job  and I am honored to be asked to illustrate their poster and work on other promotional material for them!

Their next big production “Alice in Wonderland” will be performed on June 4th and 5h, at Seabury Hall on Maui. If you happen to be on Maui, go see it – you won’t be disappointed!
